Following a trial that has shocked France, on Wednesday, May 28th, a court sentenced retired surgeon Joël Le Scouarnec to 20 years in prison for the rape and sexual assault of at least 299 patients, many of whom were minors. A significant portion of the abuses took place while the victims were under anesthesia.
