Léon Marchand breaks the world record for the 200m individual medley during the semi-finals of the Swimming World Championships in Singapore on July 30, 2025, with a time of 1 minute 52 seconds 69. He thus erases the mark held for fourteen years by American Ryan Lochte in 1 minute 54 seconds 00.
After already impressing at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Marchand confirms his status as an exceptional swimmer in this discipline combining butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. He now aims for a new title in the 400m individual medley at the World Championships.
