Mathilde Panot, présidente du groupe La France insoumise à l'Assemblée nationale, invitée de France Inter, le 21 août 2024. The President of the La France Insoumise group in the National Assembly, Mathilde Panot, was interviewed on France Inter on August 21, 2024.

During the interview, Panot criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his accusations against France. Netanyahu had sent a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron, claiming that France’s intention to recognize the State of Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly was fueling anti-Semitism.

Panot denounced Netanyahu’s actions, stating that he was the one spreading hatred around the world. She criticized the Israeli government’s use of anti-Semitism as a diplomatic weapon, calling it shameful and harmful to the fight against real anti-Semitism. She also highlighted the dangers of equating all Jews with the policies of a criminal leader facing charges at the International Criminal Court.

In addition to criticizing Netanyahu, Panot also took aim at Macron, accusing him of inaction in response to the situation in Gaza and the Israeli government’s policies. She lamented the lack of sanctions against Israel, including the absence of an arms embargo and a suspension of the EU-Israel association agreement. Panot emphasized the urgency of recognizing a Palestinian state, particularly in light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Panot concluded by condemning what she described as Macron’s guilty inaction in the face of what she called the first genocide to be filmed live in human history. She urged for concrete actions to hold Israel accountable and address the ongoing conflict in the region.

Overall, Panot’s interview on France Inter highlighted the complex dynamics at play in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the need for international leaders to take decisive action to promote peace and justice in the region.
