Thierry Queffélec, former prefect of Haut-Rhin, is under preliminary investigation for domestic violence, a judicial source told ICI Alsace on Wednesday, July 30, confirming information from the Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace.
Queffélec abruptly resigned from his position in May 2025 for personal reasons. The preliminary investigation for domestic violence, initially conducted by the prosecutor’s office in Colmar, has been reassigned to the prosecutor’s office in Metz. At this stage, he is presumed innocent. Father of eleven children, Thierry Queffélec had arrived in Haut-Rhin in 2023.
ICI Alsace learned on Tuesday, through a publication in the Official Journal, of Queffélec’s appointment as chairman of the board of the National Agency for Automated Offense Processing (the organization through which fines are paid, for example) and the board of the National Agency for Secure Titles (which handles procedures for passports, identity cards, and driver’s licenses).
