Sans inscription. A meeting of the «Volunteer Coalition,» comprised of around thirty mainly European countries, will take place at the Elysée on Thursday, September 4. Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will co-chair the meeting in the presence of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as announced by the French presidency on September 1.
Following a meeting between six leaders and Donald Trump on August 18 at the White House, they will «discuss the work on security guarantees for Ukraine conducted in recent weeks and assess the consequences of Russia’s continued refusal for peace.» The participation of the American president in this summit is not mentioned by the Elysée.
Diplomatic efforts to find a resolution to the war in Ukraine have intensified in recent weeks under the guidance of Donald Trump, who met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska in August, but have not yet yielded any concrete results. Ukraine accuses Russia of stalling and pretending to negotiate in order to prepare for further attacks.
