On August 27th, a fifth lifeless body was found in the Seine River, at the quai de Charenton in Charenton-le-Pont, Val-de-Marne. Initially, this discovery raised questions about a possible connection to the grim Choisy-le-Roi case, where four men were found dead two weeks earlier. However, this lead has been definitively ruled out.
According to a police source quoted by AFP, «the fifth body has no connection to the case.» No further information has been disclosed at this time regarding the identity or circumstances of the death.
This fifth discovery had sparked the interest of investigators. It came two weeks after four bodies were found in the river in Choisy-le-Roi, another town in Val-de-Marne located a few kilometers upstream.
As a reminder, on August 13th, four bodies – of men aged 21 to 48 – were discovered. A young homeless man in his twenties was arrested and indicted in this case for «murders,» according to a statement from the Créteil prosecutor’s office. He has been placed in custody.
