Résidents privés d’eau chaude depuis trois semaines à Vitry-sur-Seine

Residents of a building in Vitry-sur-Seine, in Val-de-Marne, have been without hot water since August 26th. This has greatly complicated their daily lives.

Vanessa, a tenant in Vitry-sur-Seine, shared her struggles: «It takes a long time to heat up, and it requires a lot of water.» She explained that she now has to heat up water in large pots to wash her children. «For each child, I have to fill up two pots… And I have four children, so every evening, I have to heat up eight pots of water,» she said, despite being up to date with her charges.

In the building, about a hundred apartments are without hot water. Twenty of these apartments have been sold to their occupants. Both tenants and owners are being penalized due to a conflict over an unpaid bill that was not passed on to their new property manager.

«This is a problem that should be resolved in a few minutes. However, the owner and the property manager keep passing the blame onto each other, saying, ‘You are responsible!’ As a result, no one takes action, and the tenants are left without hot water to take their showers,» lamented Alain Gaulon, president of the National Housing Confederation of Val-de-Marne.

The social landlord of the building, when contacted, acknowledged the confusion between the property managers and the impact on the residents’ daily lives. According to the landlord, hot water could be restored by the end of this week.
