Stellantis announces that it will not close its factory in Poissy on Wednesday, November 26. The automotive group has committed to maintaining the 2,000 jobs and industrial activity in collaboration with the unions. However, there is no decision yet regarding car production on site.
The management of Stellantis wants to establish three activities in Poissy (Yvelines). This includes the manufacturing of spare parts, as well as circular economy, which involves car recycling. This represents a €20 million investment to modernize part of the factory. For Stellantis, the main goal is to reassure the employees.
«The factory will not close, there is no social plan scheduled at the Poissy factory. And we were able to share the first good news, which brings jobs and activities for the years to come, even for several decades,» says Eric Haan, the director of the Stellantis factory in Poissy.
In this factory, 2000 employees manufacture 400 Opel Mokka cars per day. They are divided into two teams: one in the morning, the other in the evening. However, sales of this compact SUV are uncertain. The management could therefore decide to keep only one team next year. At the same time, it promises to keep all its employees. The unions are divided on this promise.
Stellantis currently produces the Opel Mokka at its Poissy site.
