Following the death of a young man after «a serious traffic accident, on an unhelmeted motocross bike, on November 21, two investigations are ongoing, one for failure to comply and the other for involuntary manslaughter,» said the prosecutor’s office, contacted by AFP.

This is a preliminary investigation that does not target «anyone specifically» but has «the aim of determining the responsibility or lack thereof of third parties in this accident,» the same source specifies.

On November 21, 2025 at 11 am, Abdulaï J., 20 years old, leaves his home and takes his motorcycle to go to the leisure center in Houilles where he worked as an after-school activities supervisor. According to several family members, he was chased by a police vehicle when his motorcycle collided with a van in a narrow alley. He died on December 2 after twelve days in a coma.

A support committee «The truth for Abdulaï» has since been formed. «We cannot accept the opacity that still surrounds the circumstances of our brother’s death,» reads a post published on Instagram by this committee.

According to Me Margot Pugliese, who is assisting the deceased’s family members, a witness stated to the family «having witnessed Abdulaï’s chase on his motocross bike by a police car that was driving very fast behind him.»

«I don’t know if that’s why he was being chased, but he was riding without a helmet,» emphasizes the lawyer, contacted by AFP. «We will do everything to uncover the truth in this case.»
