A man who claims to be schizophrenic was apprehended in the common areas of his building in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. An investigation has been opened for spousal homicide.
The man himself alerted the police. A 61-year-old man contacted the authorities, announcing that he had killed his 60-year-old wife, the Paris prosecutor’s office told AFP on Wednesday.
The incident took place in the 20th arrondissement of the capital. According to a police source, the individual was covered in blood when he was apprehended in the common areas of his building. The woman, on the other hand, was found with her throat slit in the bathroom, with cuts on her right thigh and chest.
An investigation for spousal homicide has been opened and entrusted to the second district of the judicial police. The man claims to be schizophrenic, according to the Paris prosecutor’s office.
In 2023, 96 women were victims of spousal femicide in France. This is a 19% decrease compared to 2022, according to the latest report from the Ministry of the Interior.
