Dans le Rhône, à Villefranche-sur-Saône, l’émotion laisse place à la colère après la mort par balle d’un adolescent de 13 ans. Deux autres jeunes qui se trouvaient sur les lieux ont été interpellés. Ils ont 15 et 12 ans. Les habitants du quartier sont sous le choc.

Mardi 14 avril, le quartier populaire de Belleroche à Villefranche-sur-Saône (Rhône) se réveille douloureusement du drame survenu la veille. Bouafia Cheikh, alerté par des cris, a fait partie des premiers témoins à intervenir. «J’ai vu beaucoup de gens, je suis descendu en courant, je suis allé voir le gamin. Il était allongé par terre, plein de sang. […] C’était choquant. Je n’ai pas dormi de la nuit. À chaque fois que je me réveille, je le vois en face de moi», détaille le témoin.
C’est dans un local, dans l’arrière-boutique d’une épicerie, que le garçon de 13 ans est décédé après avoir reçu une balle au niveau de la tête, et ce malgré l’intervention rapide des secours. Difficile pour les habitants de comprendre comment cela a pu se produire. «Quand ce sont des enfants de cet âge-là, c’est dramatique. Je plains la famille», partage un riverain.
Sur place, l’arme n’a pas été retrouvée. La victime était accompagnée de deux autres adolescents âgés de 15 et 12 ans. Aucun d’entre eux n’est connu de la justice. Ils ont été interpellés par la police. Le plus âgé a été placé en garde à vue, le plus jeune en retenue judiciaire.
La famille de la victime, rencontrée lundi 13 avril, est submergée par le drame. «C’était mon petit-cousin. C’était quelqu’un de calme, super gentil. On ne comprend pas, on est tous attristés par cette nouvelle», indique un proche. Altercation, accident ou lien avec le trafic de drogue : pour l’heure, la procureure de la République n’écarte aucune piste. Une enquête a été ouverte pour assassinat.
An investigation has been opened for murder in Villefranche-sur-Saône, Rhône. The community is in shock following the tragic shooting death of a 13-year-old boy. Two other minors, aged 15 and 12, were apprehended at the scene, adding to the distress of the neighborhood residents.
On Tuesday, April 14th, the working-class neighborhood of Belleroche in Villefranche-sur-Saône woke up to the aftermath of the previous day’s tragedy. Bouafia Cheikh, among the first witnesses to respond to the cries, described the harrowing scene: «I saw a lot of people, I ran down, I went to see the kid. He was lying on the ground, covered in blood. It was shocking. I couldn’t sleep all night. Every time I wake up, I see him in front of me.»
The 13-year-old boy tragically passed away in a storage area in the back of a grocery store after being shot in the head, despite the swift intervention of emergency services. It is perplexing for the residents to comprehend how such a tragedy could unfold. A local resident shared, «When it’s children of that age, it’s tragic. I feel sorry for the family.»
The weapon was not found at the scene. The victim was in the company of two other adolescents, aged 15 and 12, neither of whom had a criminal record. They were taken into custody by the police, with the older one placed in police custody and the younger one in judicial detention.
The victim’s family, who were interviewed on Monday, April 13th, are overwhelmed by the tragedy. A close relative expressed, «He was my little cousin. He was a calm, super nice person. We don’t understand, we are all saddened by this news.» Whether it was an altercation, an accident, or linked to drug trafficking, the public prosecutor is keeping all possibilities open. An investigation has been initiated for murder.
