Following the drowning of a child on a holiday camp organized by the Bobigny municipality in Allier, parents gathered outside a gymnasium in Seine-Saint-Denis to await the return of their children. «As soon as my wife read that a child had died by drowning, she stopped reading. She immediately panicked, thinking that it could be one of our children,» reacted an anonymous father.
«They are very close to the children, and they do their job well. There have never been any negative remarks,» another father said about the supervision team. «I had confidence in that team, everything always went very well,» he added.
Suffering from autism spectrum disorders, the boy was found dead by drowning in a pond prohibited for swimming on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred during an outing in the Champins playground in Moulins.
How did the child manage to evade the monitors’ vigilance? The vacation center was «supervised by a team of eight people – an enhanced supervision rate due to the presence of two handicapped children,» the municipality stated in a press release.
