A day to remember. Emmanuel Macron presides over the commemorations of the tenth anniversary of the November 13 attacks by paying his respects at each of the attack sites before participating in a large ceremony at the new memorial garden near the city hall in Paris. Tributes began on Wednesday. The Eiffel Tower was lit up in blue, white, and red on Wednesday evening. In front of the Bataclan, anonymous individuals began placing flowers and candles.
A memorial journey. The President of the Republic is set to visit the attack sites in Paris and Saint-Denis, starting with the Stade de France. At each stop, a moment of remembrance will be held alongside the families and victim associations, according to a statement from the Elysée.
Inauguration of the Garden of Remembrance. At the end of the day of tribute to the victims, Emmanuel Macron is expected to attend the inauguration of the Garden of Remembrance for November 13 on Place Saint-Gervais, opposite the Paris City Hall, where he will deliver a speech. Already open to the public, this garden is a stone enclosure from which granite blocks representing the six attack sites emerge, with the names of the victims engraved on them and a street map on the ground.
Music as the common thread. The ceremony for this inauguration is scheduled between 6:00 pm and 7:40 pm. The artistic direction has been entrusted to Thierry Reboul, the conductor with Thomas Jolly of the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics on the Seine. The celebration’s common thread will be music, paying homage to the "spirit of celebration" that the attacks aimed to attack, according to Thierry Reboul. The highlight will be a requiem by Victor Le Masne. To follow this ceremony, France 2 and franceinfo (channel 16) offer a special program between 4:15 pm and 8:00 pm. L’inauguration du Jardin du souvenir. A la fin de la journée d’hommage aux victimes, Emmanuel Macron assistera à l’inauguration du Jardin du souvenir du 13-Novembre sur la place Saint-Gervais, en face de l’hôtel de ville de Paris, où il prononcera un discours. Ce jardin, déjà ouvert au public, est constitué d’une enceinte de pierre sur laquelle émergent des blocs de granit symbolisant les six lieux des attentats, avec les noms des victimes gravés dessus et, au sol, le plan des rues.
La musique en fil rouge. La cérémonie d’inauguration est prévue de 18h à 19h40. La direction artistique a été confiée à Thierry Reboul, chef d’orchestre avec Thomas Jolly de la cérémonie d’ouverture des JO-2024 sur la Seine. La musique sera au cœur de la célébration, en hommage au "sens de la fête" que les attentats ont cherché à attaquer, selon Thierry Reboul.
