Following a meeting with ministers from the European Union (EU), the bloc’s Trade Chief, Maros Sefcovic, declared on July 14th that member states will need to adopt countermeasures against the US if trade negotiations fail, after President Donald Trump announced tariffs of 30% on those nations over the weekend. However, Sefcovic emphasized that if the measure is not reversed, the new tariffs would «practically prohibit» trade between the EU and the US.
