A 40-year-old man committed suicide on Thursday morning at the central house of Poissy (Yvelines). An investigation has been launched to determine the reasons behind his actions.
«A correctional officer from the service responsible for judicial extractions took his own life this morning at his workplace», said the Versailles prosecutor’s office.
The Minister of Justice Gérald Darmanin and the director of the prison administration (AP) Sébastien Cauwel «send their sincere condolences to his family, his relatives, and all his colleagues,» the AP reacted.
«They offer them their full support and share their pain in this ordeal. A psychological support unit is available to the staff of the establishment to help them through this particularly challenging time,» the same source added.
On the website of the UFAP-UNSA Justice union, a tribute is paid to «a loyal member» but also to «a man with a big heart».
The man was 40 years old and had reached the rank of chief brigadier, according to the union, for whom «he leaves behind the image of an exemplary professional, recognized and appreciated by all those who had the chance to cross his path».
