A «Run for Lorène» race was organized at the Grand Blottereau park in Nantes on Wednesday, July 2nd, in memory of Lorène, who died from multiple stab wounds in her high school at Notre-Dame-de-Toutes-Aides, nearly three months ago, reports ICI Loire Océan (formerly France Bleu). The funds raised will contribute to a fund opened by the family for the mental health of young people. Before the race, it already contained 66,000 euros.
In the park’s pathways, almost everyone was wearing a «Run for Lorène» t-shirt. Young people, middle school and high school students, came with their parents for the most part. But also teachers from Notre-Dame-de-Toutes-Aides and other schools in Nantes, as well as Lorène’s family.
A few minutes before the race, Lorène’s father took the microphone. «You are walking for our daughter Lorène, but also for all the victims. We obviously have thoughts for the three injured young people, but also for all the witnesses of the scene,» he declared.
An emotional gathering where, despite everything, many smiles were seen on the participants’ faces. The younger ones, especially those who were within the school walls on the day of the attack, are running «so that Lorène can rest in peace«.
