Ce n’est pas un film d’action, c’est ce qui vient de se passer à Tristan da Cunha, un confetti de territoire du Royaume-Uni situé au beau milieu de l’Atlantique Sud. Des parachutistes de l’armée britannique ont été dépêchés sur place parce qu’un habitant est un cas suspect d’hantavirus. Il a séjourné à bord du fameux paquebot. Le bateau avait fait escale sur cette île mi-avril. Puisque l’homme était chez lui, il était resté. Voilà qui explique cette opération militaire et sanitaire exceptionnelle. Largage de 6 parachutistes, de 2 médecins et de matériel médical.
Sur cette photo, une partie des 221 habitants de l’île récupère la livraison. Les huit militaires largués vont pour l’instant rester sur place, l’un des parachutistes témoigne. «Évidemment, les habitants de l’île étaient très contents de nous voir et nous ont très chaleureusement accueillis. On n’a pas vu le patient, nous confions cela à l’équipe soignante. Nous, on s’est occupé du parachutage et on va les laisser s’occuper de la partie médicale», détaille le capitaine Georges Lacey, parachutiste de la 14e brigade aéroportée.
Leur rôle : évaluer une éventuelle propagation de l’antivirus et informer les autorités britanniques.

It’s not an action movie, it’s what just happened on Tristan da Cunha, a tiny territory of the United Kingdom located in the middle of the South Atlantic. British army paratroopers were dispatched because a resident is a suspected case of hantavirus. He had been on board the famous cruise ship. The ship had made a stop on this island in mid-April.
